This Melbourne home by Inglis Architects demonstrates a wonderful understanding of material and form. It’s been some time since we’ve featured an Australian home on TVG, so this is a perfect build to kick things back off. The design shows an interesting use of space where communal living areas feed into external courtyards, and repetition of materials and finishes creates a great flow throughout the house.
Beautiful timber finishes keep the narrative of the house light and airy with black metal detailing adding a sense of luxury to the house. The house takes up the full width of the block, however, makes full use of an internal courtyard flooding the lower floors with natural light – an important design consideration for Australian houses during the winter months.
In this Toorak house, Inglis Architects has created a wonderful, liveable and modern house peppered with great detailing on the inside, and a bold personality on the exterior.
