Last week I had the pleasure of attending Toby’s Estate Brewing Masterclass, hosted at their shimmering new flagship in the heart of the colossus that is Sydney’s Barangaroo District development.
Fresh from the workshop, the new cafe – located in Barangaroo’s Tower Two – is a testament to the company and their progressive nature. Gone are the industrial and worn vibes, replaced instead by a beautifully finished American ash oak and white marble combination, custom perforated panelling included.
The night involved drinks and canapés and a detailed and intimate walkthrough of multiple speciality brewing techniques including Chemex, V60 and Aeropress filter methods run by Baristas Joaquin, Pablo and Josh – all who play integral roles in the Toby’s Estate machine.
There was also some discussion of Toby’s Estate future endeavours and pushing the quickly expanding coffee industry in new directions. Swing by the new Barangaroo site and say hi to the boys. If you’re feeling adventurous, ask them for a ‘Sprotonic’, a new cold coffee drink concept fresh from the lab. Good times guaranteed.
