The Macallan Whisky Makers Edition Review

Become Harvey Specter for a moment and sip on his whisky of choice! Well not quiet, throughout Suits, you see the suave partner at a law firm sipping on The Macallan 18. However, if you want true bang for your buck go with this week’s review – The Macallan Whisky Makers Edition.

The Macallan Whisky Makers Edition is an absolute gem, aged in ex-bourbon casks and sherry butts. Now if you’re wondering what a ‘sherry butt’ is, then it’s your larger than average casks which previously held approximately 500 litres of sherry for at least three years before housing our whisky of the week.

Unlike the Macallan 18 which costs nearly $500AUD, the Whisky Makers Edition can be picked up for around $200.00 at duty-free in Australia. Or if you happen to be travelling to or through Taiwan these bad boys will only set you back $100AUD. I know it’s highway robbery when you compare the difference. More on that another time.

Notes on The Macallan Whisky Makers Edition:

Nosing (Aromas)

On the nose you get chocolate and orange zest combines beautifully cinnamon and earthy spices to deliver a wonderful experience.

Palate (Taste)

The palate is a mouthful of sweetness with fruits and caramel combining in sublime fashion with subtle spices thrown in for good measure. For the sweetness to really come out add a dash of water.

Finish (After Taste)

The finish rounds of this whisky beautifully with orange peel, oakiness and gentle smoke to round out an exceptional whisky experience.

Overall, The Macallan Whisky Makers Edition fits perfectly, just like Harvey Specter’s suit!
