The Abyss Table by Duffy London

As far as coffee tables go they don’t get much better than The Abyss Table by Duffy London. After a year of development Christopher Duffy and his team have created a functional conversation piece replicating a cross section of the ocean, like something out of an old geography class textbook. Individual wooden and glass sheets have been overlayed to create the 3D cross section displaying the dramatic depths of the ocean.

I was looking into sheets of thick glass at my glass manufacturer’s factory, and noticed how the material darkened as they added more layers – the same way the sea does as it deepens. I wanted to use this effect to replicate a real piece of the earth’s sea bed, like a mythical power had lifted a perfect rectangle straight from the earth’s crust to use as his personal ornament.’

Suffice to say this piece would go down a treat in any bachelor pad.
