Every self-respecting scotch swilling gent should be well acquainted with Talisker, the only distillery on the remote Isle of Skye. This week TVG discovered that there’s much more to this celebrated single malt than its flagship 10 year old.
Introducing the recently released Talisker Storm, a No Age Statement (NAS) single malt Scotch Whisky.
As the global demand for older aged malts grows faster than distilleries can age their reserves, NAS labels have flourished. While some Scotch purists may be sceptical of NAS whiskies, this pundit is of the opinion that age is often mistaken for quality. Talisker Storm is truly an example of an NAS whisky done right.
Talisker prides itself on delivering whiskies that are true expressions of the untamed and rugged coastline from where it hails, and Storm delivers this in spades. Bottled at the unique strength of 45.8% Storm exhibits more intensity and smokiness, and more vibrant maritime character than its famous 10 year old cousin. For those without many leather bound books and an apartment that smells of rich mahogany, it’s everything you like about Talisker, with the settings turned right up.
By no means an entry level whisky, TVG recommends Talisker Storm for gents looking to expand their scotch repertoire beyond the ordinary.
