The award-winning Seascape Retreat by Pattersons Associates Architects is located on the Banks Peninsula, tucked into the volcanic landscape of New Zealand’s South Island. This secluded private bay is only accessible by helicopter or by 4-wheel-drive, across cliff-top farms.
Designed back in 2011 as a honeymoon destination, the cabin was constructed with locally sourced materials, volcanic rock, macrocarpa timber, concrete floors and an earth-tufted roof. High quality, contrasting textures fill the central living space that houses the kitchen, living, and bedroom, creating an intimate environment. Different areas are made apparent by the raised platform for the bedroom. The spectacular view dominates the open plan living space, floor to ceiling glass windows facing out to the ocean. Contemporary, minimalist furniture and styling are carried out to the luxurious deck, fitted with a fireplace and spa.
What a place to unwind, a luxury experience hidden away from civilization.
