In 2012 Honda unveiled a reborn NSX concept at the Detroit Motor Show and has since been testing the hybrid at Nurburgring that is planned to go on sale in Australia in 2016.
The sharp looking new NSX plans to repeat the formula of the original model offering supercar performance at a more accessible price. The development chief Ted Klaus told Autocar last year his team was looking to deliver “the excitement of the [Ferrari] 458 at the price of the [Porsche] 911”. The car will also be priced to compete head on the with Nissan GT-R.
The new NSX will get a mid-mounted, twin-turbo V6 paired to an electric motor driving the rear wheels through a seven-speed dual clutch transmission, and twin-electric motors turning the front wheels, with the system expected to deliver more than 400 hp and the world could be seeing it as soon as January 2015 in Detroit – unfortunately Australia will have to wait a tad longer.
