Philips Sonicare DiamondClean Black Edition

The Philips Sonicare DiamondClean Black Edition is the Rolls Royce Wraith of electric toothbrushes.

If you’re like me and decide that it’s imperative to have the very best of everything, then this is the toothbrush for you. When this product landed on our doorstep I couldn’t believe how on point it was. The Sonicare DiamondClean Black Edition is the first black toothbrush in the Philip’s range taking sonic tooth brushing to its most stylish and sophisticated level yet.

First up let me start by saying I had to pull out the instructions to learn how to charge the thing – I can’t recall the last time I read instructions for anything. The toothbrush comes in a great little box with a towel, travel case, glass and a strange chrome baseplate that plugs into the wall. What I didn’t realise was the glass sat on the chrome baseplate with the toothbrush resting in the glass and charged via conduction technology. Seriously impressive. The box also comes with a travel case which plugs into a USB socket so you can charge it on the go, however you’ll only need it if your trip exceeds three weeks.

The brush is able to deliver a unique whole mouth clean thanks to its five brushing experiences that allow users to tailor their brushing according to their needs, as well as their dental professional’s advice. The brushing modes range from:

Clean – the standard mode for a whole mouth clean.
White – removes surface stains to whiten teeth.
Polish – brightens and polishes teeth to bring out their natural brilliance.
Gum Care – gently stimulates and massages gums.
Sensitive – an extra-gentle mode for sensitive teeth.

After using it for a couple of weeks I find myself scrolling through all the modes one after another, starting at sensitive to ease myself into what has become a lengthy but enjoyable process. At the end my teeth feel the same as they do when I’ve been to the dentist (cleaner than they’ve ever been). Outside of being supremely good at cleaning teeth (this brush is clinically proven to whiten teeth in one week – it definitely has) it’s a cracking gadget and a must have bathroom accessory.

The new Philips Sonicare DiamondClean Black is available from The Shaver Shop, Harvey Norman, Myer, David Jones and selected national retailers with an RRP of $299.95.
