Miami Shoe King: Del Toro

Described as a ‘movement’ by co-founder and Creative Director Matthew Chevallard, Miami based footwear brand Del Toro is filling the cavernous creative hole in high-end men’s shoes.

You will most likely catch young Chevallard as you scroll through street style blogs on your lunch break, often clad in suede backwards caps and statement kicks in between coffee appointments at Pitti Uomo.

The result is a meld of classic American prep, New York street wear and the Miami art scene thrown in for good measure – Lil Wayne can even be counted among his first customers.

Del Toro launched its first flagship boutique in Miami in December last year during cult #art exhibition, Art Basel.

You can expect fresh takes on footwear staples from Del Toro like neon wingtips and stingray chukka boots plus limited edition collaborations with the likes of rapper Theophilus London.

The distinctive Del Toro style can be teamed with anything from relaxed denim to grown up tailoring, why not try a pair of the mean camo print slippers next time you head out for some swanky bevs?

To adorn the new boutique and decorate their badass luxury goods, Del Toro commissioned over thirty local and international artists to express their vision on signature Del Toro pieces.

The hipster shoe art sat handsomely on acrylic shelves at the launch party and was a mass of vibrant graffiti, Jackson Pollock splatter and intense commitment with a sharpie.

I know what your thinking, ‘I better not get to add-to-cart only to find out that these kewl kids don’t ship to Australia’ – don’t sweat it Del Toro have that covered.
