Last year we saw the One:1 from Koenigsegg, this year we get the Regera, Swedish for ‘to Reign’. If you thought they hit the ball out of the park with the name (I do), wait until you see the car.
The Koenigsegg Regera is the company’s first attempt at a luxury ‘megacar’, not that its last cars weren’t luxurious, they were just prioritised to be the fast. Despite preferencing luxury with the Regera, Koenigsegg also decided they’d make it the fastest accelerating, most powerful production car ever (as you do).
The car is full of nifty features including some novel Constellation daytime driving lights, robotised body closures that can be simultaneously controlled via a smartphone, a foldable rear carbon wing that retreats into the body when not in use and plugin EV capabilities.
All 80 examples will feature 8 way electrically adjustable memory foam seats, Koenigsegg 9” infotainment system, 3G and Wi-Fi connectivity, front, inner and rear camera system with recording capability, Apple CarPlay, supreme sound system, ambient lighting and many other great new features. The Regera also comes with front and rear parking sensors and remote diagnostic and firmware update capability.
Finally we must address the engine. The Regara utilises Koenigsegg’s proven twin turbo 5.0 litre V8 and pairs it with three electric motors, delivering a combined output of over 1,500 hp. The result is a 0-60 time of sub three seconds, a top speed of 410kmh the ability to hit 400kmh in under 20 seconds!
