I’m not sure where I came across 22-year-old Jeffery Bernat and there’s not a whole lot I can tell you about him but what I can tell you is that his music is perfect. His debut album, The Gentleman Approach is a scintillating fusion of RnB, Soul and Jazz. For me it’s an album I can listen to from start to finish. The Pilipino born crooner kicks things off with some light-hearted stories accompanied with deep beats and catchy hooks drawing on classic situations like ‘falling in love with the girl at the coffee shop’.
I can’t avoid the jazzy vibe, suggestive lyrics and erotic slow jams as the tracks continue to play and all I can think about is how suitable this album is for seducing a fine female in front of a log fire with a bottle of 86’ Chateaux Lafite. The Gentleman Approach is truly baby making music, delicate and sensitive but also a faultless accompaniment to a session on the scotches with a good male friend discussing the use of Jeff Bernat to help close a date with a gorgeous woman.
This album just lifts your spirits; it fills your head with dreams of debonair seduction and gatherings of sophisticated people. Jeffery’s music will complement any part of your day, whether it’s enjoying a coffee and reading the paper or lighting some candles and prepping an intimate moonlit dinner.
Tasteful and versatile, a rare find.
