I love Jaeger-LeCoultre, from the Reverso to the Vintage Deep Sea, it’s a brand that resonates endlessly with me. However, I’m a man who needs a sports watch, on a bracelet or on rubber, I need a watch that fits my lifestyle.
Last year at SIHH, JLC unveiled a handful of stunning and affordable additions to its Master Collection which I covered in my wrap of the event. This year, they’ve continued the affordable theme and injected a lifestyle edge into the family with the release of the Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris Collection, inspired by none other than the iconic Memovox Polaris watch from 1968.
Where the Master Extreme family didn’t quite nail it, the updated Polaris Collection redefines the concept of ‘elegant sports watch’. Not only is there a reissue of the original Memovox (limited to 1000 pieces) and vintage-inspired Polaris Date, which both boast 200m water resistance, but also a three-hand automatic, Chronograph and Chronograph World Timer, all sporting 100m of water resistance.
The new Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris collection channels the best of the Grande Maison’s watchmaking tradition with all five releases, ranging from 41 to 44mm, featuring JLC in-house movements, vintage-inspired dials, brushed and hand polished surfaces with both a contemporary rubber strap and a newly designed three-link bracelet on offer, all interchangeable.
What the Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris collection adds to the brand is a versatile, everyday watch, an ideal second or third watch for existing customers and an affordable, durable and sporty entry point for newcomers. Well done JLC.
