I saw this very special Jaeger-LeCoultre Batman Reverso on Hodinkee last night and had to share it with our readers.
For those that aren’t acquainted with the Reverso, it is an invention unique to Jaeger-LeCoultre since 1931 and arguably the most iconic rectangular watch of all time. The case was designed so it could protect the face of the watch from scratches and knocks (perfect for the man who has to fight crime and scale buildings). When the Reverso is flipped it is transformed into a jewel that can be personalised with an engraving of the buyer’s choice – for Bruce Wayne the choice of engraving was obvious.
‘Seventeen years ago, Bruce Wayne first put on a Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso. In this weekend’s blockbuster finale to Christopher Nolan’s “Dark Knight” trilogy, the billionaire turned former billionaire Bruce Wayne (now played by Christian Bale) also wears a Reverso.
To celebrate this, JLC has made a limited edition Reverso Tribute To 1931 with a special engraved Bat logo on the caseback. Filled with black lacquer and visible only when the case is “flipped,” this watch pays tribute to the original Reverso worn by Kilmer. In fact, both this watch and the original will be on display in JLC’s Geneva, London, Los Angeles, and Hong-Kong boutiques.’ – Hodinkee
