At this year’s Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie IWC will be unveiling an updated Portuguese collection with new models and a new name! Today we get a sneak peek at the brand’s new Portugieser Annual Calendar.
The Annual Calendar (Ref. 5035) will be officially presented on the 19th of January and will be IWC’s first annual calendar, closing the gap between the perpetual calendar and the simple date display. The month, date and day are shown in three separate, semicircular windows at “12 o’clock” while the date switching mechanism is able to take the differing lengths of the individual months into account. The “American” order in which the date is shown was not only necessary from a technical and design point of view, but is also a homage to F. A. Jones, IWC’s American founder. The new IWC-manufactured 52850 calibre has two barrels that keep the new function supplied with ample energy and still has enough left for a 7-day power reserve.
Finished with an elegant Navy blue dial, the brand’s first Annual Calendar is sure to make a big impression!
