Grain Bar at the Four Seasons Hotel in Sydney has evolved from a multi-million refurbishment the hotel has undergone in the last 12 months. The hotel’s facelift has resulted in a new look bar and restaurant as well as Business Centre and Executive Club. We were invited to experience Grain on a Friday evening and were very impressed with the entire operation.
One thing I love about Grain is that it’s accessible directly from the street which alleviates the need to walk through the hotel’s lobby. I think a lot of the time hotel bars can seem unwelcoming because you feel strange being in the hotel without being a guest, thankfully this is far from the case at Grain. The fit out at Grain is second to none, featuring Australian timber (hence the name) , luxurious leather and a very photogenic (and transparent) back bar that suspends bottles from the roof on individual floating racks. The dark wood, leather and the open fire tell me this bar has been designed for men, not that women weren’t there, quite the opposite in fact. We sampled a selection of intricately prepared cocktails and stunning bar food from french fries to gourmet sliders – all fantastic. Grain Bar is the perfect place for a pre game Friday drink and early evening snack. It’s also a place where you could easily turn a quick Friday evening drink into a significant friday night, perfectly suited to an end of the evening whisky in front of the open fire.
