TVG was on location at the Inglis Newmarket Stables in Randwick this morning for the official debut of the Ferrari 488 GTB (Gran Turismo Berlinetta), its first appearance in Australia following the car’s International Premiere at the Geneva Motor Show in March. An impressive vintage line up of 40 years of Ferrari V8s showcased the 488 GTB’s iconic bloodline as the vehicle made a triumphant entrance to cheers from the crowd.
The 488 GTB enters the Ferrari lineup with the most powerful V8 engine the manufacturer has ever produced, eclipsing the 458 Italia by 100 horsepower. The 660 hp (492kW) GTB introduces a new turbocharged V8 engine as well as substantial aerodynamic and braking improvements. Ferrari promise their sophisticated dynamic vehicle controls first seen in the 458 Speciale make the power completely controllable even on the limit by drivers of all abilities. The manufacturer also noted the importance of the XX programme in which Ferrari’s technicians have developed a unique knowledge of the dynamic behaviour of extreme cars driven by ‘gentlemen drivers’.
