Sweden-based watchmaker Corniche has created something rather impressive with their Heritage 40 model. Corniche tries to highlight the fact that a watch is more than just a means of telling the time, it is a personal item that can mark a pivotal moment in life.
I was immediately impressed when I started to unbox the Heritage 40. The time and detail that has gone into the presentation and box were apparent, and for a watch that retails for around $470 AUD, it felt like something of much more value, an unexpectedly good experience. All aspects had a feeling of a more luxury brand.
The rose gold stainless steel case is a perfect size for the wrist, 40mm in diameter and 7mm thick. Corniche opted for contrasting finishes on the case, polished for the bezel and a brushed finish for the edges. Embossed with the Corniche C, they keep the crown simple. The white ceramic dial is uncomplicated and removing the second hand emphasises this look. A Miyota 2025 Quartz movement isn’t going to be the reason you go out and purchase a watch, yet it’s a reliable movement that will last. The butterfly clasp is a welcomed addition, and it’s finished just as well as the case. It’s features like the butterfly clasp, boxing and hand applied polished markers that make this watch stand out from its competitors, features not often found on a watch of this price, solidifying this watch as a good purchase.
I can easily say the Heritage 40 exceeded expectations, a watch that exudes luxury when the price does not. One could assume that the Heritage 40 was, in fact, a mechanical watch. The Corniche Heritage 40 is a purchase that will not disappoint.
