Ferrari and Lamborghini have always battled furiously with one another as the formidable super car brand, of course there are other notable production companies making excellent super cars but these two often steal the limelight as the ‘go to’ supercar. The thing I love about Aston Martin, aside from the obvious fact that it is the quintessential gents choice, is that it has never been bothered by the quarrel between Ferrari and Lamborghini, it just keeps producing fantastic cars, cars that establish the owner as an enthusiast, not a wanker. Where society scowls at boisterous Ferrari owners they applaud humble Aston lovers and that’s a cold hard fact. Well my friends, today is a very special day as TVG drops the absolutely stunning Aston Martin AM310 Vanquish.
The former prototype that was first released to the public at the Concorso d’Eleganza at Lake Como in Italy (where these photos were taken) has been confirmed for 2013 production as of two days ago. The AM310 will replace the current DBS model blending the design of both the One-77 and DB9 shape and will wear the effortlessly cool Vanquish name.
Performance wise the Vanquish will receive Aston Martin’s latest 6.0-litre V12 engine capable of 565-hp boasting an impressive 0-100 km/h time of 4.1 seconds. The car will come in a 2 or 4 seat model, perfect for the family and will be rounded off with a set of Pirelli P-Zero tires developed exclusively for the car fitted to new 20-inch lightweight wheels and an upgraded carbon-fiber interior.
