Virgin Australia Frequent Flyers can now earn Velocity points and status credits through Coles’ Flybuys scheme; the landmark deal will rival that of the Qantas and Woolworth’s partnership.
The partnership, launched today at all Flybuys outlets across Australia allows shoppers the ability to convert Flybuys points into Velocity Frequent Flyer points.
The same transfer rate for turning Woolworths Points into Qantas Points will be used in the new partnership, seeing 2,000 Flybuys points equal to 870 Velocity points. However, the Flybuys network of partners in Australia is much bigger allowing Velocity members a better opportunity to collect points. Accumulate points at outlets such as Telstra, Medibank, NAB, AGL, Budget rentals, as well as Coles, First Choice Liquor and Liquorland.
Plus, in an effort to see Velocity members bridge the gap between tiers, you can earn up to 120 status credits a year by swiping your Flybuys card at Coles, Liquorland and First Choice Liquor outlets. Each $100 spent will earn 1 Velocity status credit, a limit of ten a month. This is no way to get platinum but may help you retain your status without paying for more flights.
Frequent flyers will need to link their Flybuys and Velocity accounts at Flybuys.com.au/Velocity in order to start earning status credits.
