Cifonelli is truly a brand that needs no introduction. Those who have clicked on this article already know – those who don’t, simply aren’t reading it at all.
For the first time ever this May, the Parisian bespoke tailor, famous for its signature cutting and impeccable finishing, will land on Australian shores for a Cifonelli Trunk Show series from Monday, May 23 until Friday, May 27, exclusively presented by The Cloakroom.
Taking place in Melbourne and Brisbane (no Sydney folks), each by appointment trunk show will offer Australian menswear aficionados the opportunity to access the esteemed brand’s made-to-measure and ready-to-wear collection, allowing the discerning clientele to order pieces from the brand without having to travel to Paris.
First founded in 1880 by Giuseppe Cifonelli in Rome, it was his son Arturo who desired to extend the brand’s influence abroad and, after studying tailoring at the highly respected Minister’s Cutting Academy in London, took the reigns in 1926 and relocated the headquarters to 33 rue Marbeuf in Paris’ famed Golden Triangle (where the brand’s Bespoke operation is still based today).
It was here the Cifonelli style flourished; combining British technique and tradition, French perfectionism and Italian flair and construction. Conceptualising the brand’s legacy with refinement, soberness and a subtly urbane manner, the house has continued to evolve throughout the years whilst staying true to its noble heritage.
Passing the company to his son Adriano in 1972, and then again to Giuseppe’s great grandsons Lorenzo and Massimo Cifonelli in 1994, the brand continues to dress elegant men from all around the world in a superb manner, upholding the traditions and reputation as the most prestigious tailor in Paris, creating an unprecedented bespoke experience.
TVG Readers can book appointments for the trunk show via contact with The Cloakroom – spaces are limited and extremely coveted.
