British Airways Offering Free First Class Upgrades

Until December 11 all British Airways customers who book a Club World (Business Class) seat will be able to upgrade to First Class one-way, for free.

Customers who purchase one of a range of semi-flexible or fully flexible Club World return fares can upgrade the outbound or return part of their trip to the prestigious first class cabin. The upgrade is also available on American Airlines operated flights on eligible routes to the US if booked with a British Airways codeshare flight number.

Customers taking advantage of the offer can also give their Avios points a boost. British Airways told Business Traveller that passengers will receive “triple Avios in the cabin class traveled.”

Australian eligibility is hazy because the offer cannot be booked on the British Airways website and must instead be secured through bookings by selected travel agents or by calling the British Airways on 0344 493 0787. However, if you’re planning on being in the UK before the end of the year and planning a quick jaunt to the continent before returning to London to come home, this is a very tasty offer worth considering.

Upgrades are subject to availability in their flight’s first class cabin.  Outbound flights must take before December 23 and return flights must be completed by December 30.
