In the world of watches, ambassadors are as prolific as they are asinine. Fortunately, Bremont has hit the nail on the head with their latest effort, launching the limited edition Bremont Waterman with Hawaiian legend Mark Healey.
If haven’t heard of Mark Healey, he’s essentially the Travis Pastrana of the sea, big-wave surfer, freediver, shark diver, champion spear-fisherman, photographer, filmmaker, and part-time Hollywood stuntman for good measure. Outside of being of one of the most respected and admired blokes in the world of watersports, he’s also an active ocean environmentalist.
For unvarnished watch enthusiasts like myself, credentials like Healey’s are a prerequisite for a successful ambassador, especially when addressing a highly technical tool watch. Actor’s, DJ’s and models, I don’t quite hold in the same regard.
Limited to 300 pieces, the new Bremont Waterman chronometer is an extension to the brand’s Supermarine range and features GMT functionality, deep-blue and contrast white dial and a new open sapphire backed 500m water resistant 43mm case tested by Healey himself. A helium release valve, anti-shock vibration mount and scratch-resistant sapphire uni-directional bezel make it a watch that can be tested to extremes.
Practical, rugged, handsome and featuring an ambassador blokes will actually get around, the Bremont Waterman is already a project to be admired. Add a contribution from each sale towards ‘Sustainable Coastlines Hawaii’ and you’ve got a watch that’s hard not to love.
