Breitling CEO Georges Kern is on a roll, unveiling the brand’s second new collection in a calendar year. The new Breitling Premier collection reintroduces the iconic 1940’s ‘Premier’ name and styling and is “the first modern Breitling collection dedicated to everyday elegance.”
In the past, I’ve been vocal about my adoration for the Breitling Transocean, a watch that has seen the brand increase its appeal to buyers less concerned with its aviator and diver’s watches. The new Breitling Premier Collection continues the success of the Transocean in Breitling’s “land” Environment, influenced by the original Premier family, with five contemporary additions to the manufacturer’s lineup.
“This is the first modern Breitling collection dedicated to everyday elegance. With outstanding quality and performance, these watches bear our unmistakable brand DNA, but they have been created with a focus on a style that beautifully complements their purpose.” – Breitling CEO Georges Kern.
Like the Navitimer 8 collection that debuted in February, the Breitling Premier Collection includes two chronographs, with the marquee model sporting Breitling’s in-house movement, a day and date model and a class time only automatic with small second subdial. The Breitling Premier Collection also includes a celebration of Breitling’s long-standing partnership with Bentley Motors launching a striking Chrono with British Racing Green dial.
Here’s a glance at the Breitling Premier Collection:
Breitling Premier B01 Chronograph 42
The Premier B01 Chronograph 42 model is the flagship piece equipped with the Breitling Manufacture Caliber 01, a self-winding, chronometer-certified movement with an impressive power reserve of over 70 hours. Presented in a 42mm stainless steel case with a transparent case back, it is offered with a dark blue or silver dial on alligator leather, a nubuck strap or a stainless-steel bracelet.
Breitling Premier Chronograph 42
The Breitling Premier Chronograph 42 features the brand’s Caliber 13 chronometer movement based on the sturdy Valjoux 7750, with minute and hour counters at 12 and 6 o’clock, as well as a small second subdial at 9 o’clock. It also features a 42mm stainless steel case and is available with either a blue or a black dial on alligator leather, nubuck strap or a stainless-steel bracelet.
Breitling Premier Automatic Day & Date 40
The Breitling Premier Automatic Day & Date 40 arrives in a more discreet 40mm case, displaying time, day and date, powered by the Breitling Caliber 45 self-winding chronometer movement. It is available with either a black or a silver dial on alligator leather, nubuck strap or a stainless-steel bracelet.
Breitling Premier Automatic 40
The Breitling Premier Automatic 40 is a classic three-hander which draws extensively from its 1940s heritage. Inside its 40mm stainless steel case is the self-winding Breitling Caliber 37movement. It is available with an anthracite, blue, or silver dial. Each dial option is available with either a nubuck or alligator leather strap or a stainless steel bracelet.
Breitling Premier B01 Chronograph 42 Bentley British Racing Green
Finally, the Premier B01 Chronograph 42 Bentley British Racing Green celebrates Breitling’s long-standing partnership with Bentley Motors. Formerly presented in the separate Breitling for Bentley collection, this model and future Bentley limited editions will be introduced in Breitling’s existing watch families.
Powered by the Breitling Manufacture Caliber 01 mechanical movement, which is visible through the transparent caseback, the watch has an impressive 70-hour power reserve and perhaps a more impressive dial. Contrasting subdials provide a distinguished aesthetic complemented by an engraved plate inscribed with the Bentley name on the left side of the case, inspired by the dashboard of the supercharged 1929 “Blower” Bentley.
