TVG was in Singapore today for the local unveiling of the AM-RB 001, a new hypercar project between Aston Martin and Red Bull Racing.
Adrian Newey, Red Bull Racing’s Chief Technical Officer (and the world’s most successful F1 designer) has taken the lead on the project alongside Aston Martin’s Marek Reichman and David King. The resulting hypercar is an unprecedented fusion of form and function: a car engineered to be entirely usable and enjoyable as a road car, but with the capability to perform like no road car before it on a race track.
Built around a lightweight carbon fibre structure, the AM-RB 001 boasts truly radical aerodynamics for unprecedented levels of downforce on a road car, generated through underfloor aerodynamics. Powering the AM-RB 001 will be a new, mid-mounted, high-revving, naturally aspirated V12 engine with the potency to achieve a 1:1 power-to-weight ratio; 1 bhp per kilo of weight. 150 of these breathtaking machines will be built at the facility created for Aston Martin’s original hypercar, the One-77.
On hand for viewing prior to the unveiling was the Aston Martin’s brand new DB11, the same car that graced Australian shores for our local launch. I wasn’t able to attend the Australian launch so it was great to finally see the DB9 successor in the flesh, and I can assure you it is Aston’s finest creation.
Head to Aston Martin for more info on the DB11 and AM-RB 001. Expect prices to be North of 2 million pounds.
