Luxury German performance manufacturer Alpina – who has been doing the jacked-up once-overs directly off BMW’s production line since 1965 – has confirmed an impending four-door speed demon in the shape of the 2020 Alpina B7 sedan.
And it’ll soon be the fastest of all sedans on the market, of which there are only five that qualify for the exclusive 200 mph club (330km/h) anyway.
Hijacking the new-generation 2020 BMW 7-Series, Alpina’s creation sports the same 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 that puts down 600 horses and an admirable 590 lb-ft of torque, albeit with larger turbo impellers and some spicy new tech. The pair of meaty kidney grilles up front are more or less the extent of the exterior updates, aside from the air springs that lower the car 1.5 cm in Sport+ mode and match a slightly tougher looking body kit.
Overall, these bells and whistles only shave a tenth off the previous B7’s 0-100 squirt time, clocking in at a juicy 3.5 seconds. In an era of supercars re-writing your high school physics textbooks on the daily, 3.5 seconds might not seem overly fast to some at first glance. But it’s my job to remind you that we’re talking about a 2.2-tonne sedan here.
Oh, and did we forget to mention the ever-so-gorgeous signature blue paint and multi-spoke wheels?
Bravo, Alpina, bravo.
