24 Gifts in 24 Days: Watershot Pro

Finally summer has arrived and we’ve been waiting months to try out the Watershot Pro for iPhone 5. I’ll be the first to admit that the thought of taking my iPhone in the surf was one that made me rather anxious but the Watershot housing is a seriously well constructed piece of kit so it doesn’t take long for the anxiousness to pass.

The Watershot Pro is exceptionally robust and is used confidently by professionals for both sport and lifestyle under water photography. The housing kit comes complete with two large removable lenses – a Flat Lens Port and Wide Angle Lens Port and a supporting App that allows the user to control the camera whilst inside the housing.

It doesn’t take too long to get used to the functionality of the housing which adjusts the camera controls to the right hand side of the iPhone so you can hold the camera in landscape mode. In the water you can toggle between still image and video capture, view images you’ve taken and even post images to Facebook and Twitter.

Front-and-Back

We spent a couple of hours in the water with it this weekend and absolutely loved it – it’s quite a novelty knowing you’ve got your phone in your hand under the water. So does it take good photos? Yes. It doesn’t impede the iPhone’s camera in any way, the images are as crisp as the ones your iPhone takes on a normal day to day basis. If you spend a lot of time in the water you’re going to have a great time with the Watershot Pro.

You can buy it for $189.99 here.
