A quick trip to Montblanc’s website shows a company specialising in pens, parchment, and business accessories. However, at SIHH 2019, Montblanc will continue to show their ability to evolve as a competitive watch brand and find their place in the market with the 2019 Montblanc TimeWalker.
To a watchmaker and a prospective client, the difference between perfection and average can be millimetres. For the 2019 Montblanc TimeWalker that difference is 2 millimetres. The 2019 TimeWalker case will arrive with a 41mm diameter, down from the previous 43mm. With the reduction in size, Montblanc hopes to create a more wearable, wrist-friendly watch, while pleasing the wider watch enthusiast community passionate about classically sized timepieces. As for thickness, any change to, the 2017 models 15.2mm height (built to compensate for the MB 25.07 movement) remains unannounced.
Both aesthetic and accessibility have seen the Montblanc TimeWalker become the foundation of the brand’s watchmaking development. Montblanc has successfully channelled previously successful watches with mimicking them and signature creative additions such as the ‘panda dial’ play strong roles in the TimeWalker’s character and the 2019 Montblanc TimeWalker will utilise this classic dial as requested by many of the company’s enthusiasts.

A final change of note is the 2019 Montblanc TimeWalker’s bezel, which arrives as a fixed ceramic tachymeter with updated scale (from 12 to 360). All in all, the 2019 Montblanc TimeWalker comes across as more refined and precise than its predecessor. The piece recognises Montblanc’s confidence as a watchmaker, announcing that less is more for the future.
Coming June 2019, the TimeWalker will arrive at a cost of $3,625USD which lands cheaper than the 2017 model.
