Ferrari 488 GTB

Since the introduction of the 308 in the mid 1970s, the entry level Ferrari has been powered by a naturally aspirated V8. Yesterday that came to an end. The new Ferrari 488 GTB has been unveiled and it’s going to be powered by a 3.8 litre turbocharged monster with 660 horsepower and a 0-100 sprint of 3 seconds flat and 0-200km/h in just 8.3 seconds.

Ferrari 458 Speciale owners will be up in arms as the new ‘entry level’ 488 GTB trumps it around Fiorano by a whole second and two whole seconds faster than the 458 it stands to replace. This boost in performance comes from a mixture of engine output and refined aerodynamics with the 488 GTB becoming the most energy efficient Ferrari ever built. Unlike the models before it the 488 GTB comes without an drastic styling changes on its predecessor but that’s not a huge concern considering the 458 was a resounding success.

The curtain on the 488 GTB will be lifted at the Geneva Motor Show so until then these images will have to do!
